The events organized by the Projektbüro Kultur are known for their artistic quality and are open to everyone. With up to 650.000 guests per year, they are part of the cultural DNA of the city of Nuremberg and are internationally recognized for their uniqueness. The goal of the Projektbüro Kultur is to sustainably and permanently embed culture in the heart of 21st-century urban society through the projects it designs and realizes. It aims to represent art and design as an active and enjoyable principle through interdisciplinary collaboration with regional, national, and international actors.
The Projektbüro Kultur operates as a staff unit within the cultural division of the second mayor. Located in office spaces in the attic of the City Hall at the main market square in Nuremberg, a dedicated team of ten experts in art and culture, management, and administration, led by Dr. Elisabeth Hartung, works to maintain the unique character of Nuremberg's events while providing space for new ideas. During the festival season and for new projects, they are supported by hundreds of freelancers, interns, and volunteers, and work closely with all departments and security authorities of the city of Nuremberg to ensure that the events are of high quality, attractive, and safe.
The portfolio of the Projektbüro Kultur also includes financing and the acquisition of third-party funds, donations, and sponsorships. The office forms alliances with the regional economy and develops new financing models such as digital donations, so that culture for all can continue to be enabled by many, even with small contributions.
Rainer Pirzkall, as an expert in world music, is responsible for the conception and realization of the Bardentreffen festival. He loves to exchange ideas about music and gives a stage to various cultures. In the morning, he cheerfully enters the office with a "Good Morning, People."
Diana Meisel oversees the extensive program of Stadt(ver)führungen each year with great dedication and intuition. Feedback and continuous improvement are just as important to her as sustainability in project planning and clear concepts. Therefore, graphics and social media are in the best hands with her.
Barbara Schwesig brings new cultural formats to life with sensitivity and intuition, such as "Mauerblümchen – Festival of Resilience." Knowledgeable, carefully, and experienced, she manages sponsorships and donations, as well as press relations. Respect and openness are particularly important to her in her work. She is a yoga enthusiast, a calming presence, and a walking archive.
Maike Renner is responsible for the formats Klassik Open Air and Stars im Luitpoldhain. Communicating as equals is particularly important to her when collaborating with all participants. In the Projektbüro Kultur, she is also the go-to person for sustainability issues and event volunteers. She prefers to drink her tea from handmade pottery mugs.
Friederike Stößel adeptly manages the social media channels of the Projektbüro Kultur as a working student. She is always up to date with current trends and confidently represents Generation Z in the Projektbüro Kultur. Despite her work in the cultural sector, she does not drink coffee.
Kerstin Pohl supports the Project Office with general organization, accounting, and event management. She serves as the interface to the administration, masters all necessary tools, and approaches problem-solving with patience. She loves working in the cultural sector and enjoys being the first one in the office in the morning.
Jörn Kiefer, a trained designer, brings his broad expertise in project management, marketing communication, concept development, and design to the Zukunftsmusik project. Equally at ease with strategic PR as he is with a jigsaw, he proves that creative thinking and hands-on craftsmanship can go seamlessly hand in hand.
